SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference UPDATE!!!!

It is hard to believe, students from Area 31 Career Programs again winging their way to Kansas City, MO to compete in the SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills 2010 Conference. These six students will be representing Area 31 as they compete along with more than 5,400 contestants in 91 separate events (2009 data).

This is a magnificent event that is a multi-million dollar extravaganza that occupies a space equivalent to 16 football fields. Area 31 students will be competing in the following events:

- Kiara Horn - Job Skills Demonstration A - demonstrating a rubber dental dam
- Tamara Augustin - Medical Terminology - test on over 350 medical terms
- Kyle Bandy, Brady Baue, and Jacob Boodt - Crime Scene Investigation - complete crime scene investigation including the following: survey crime scene, collect evidence, process evidence, and write a report.

Students from all over the United States will greet, meet, and compete forming new friendships and network with experts and educators in the all fields of study. Beginning with an Indiana "get-to-know-you" dinner to the ending Indiana celebration, students will be busy preparing for their contests and viewing all of the multitude of vendor booths and post-secondary institutions.

Keep track of all of the excitement at this website and through Twitter. Right now the students are boarding their flight to Kansas City, scheduled to arrive around 7:00 a.m. As reports come in, we will post new information.
