Welcome to a New School Year!

It is hard to believe that we are well into a new school year. We have just finished our first 4 1/2 weeks of classes with progress reports coming out next week. It is amazing how many great things are already happening at Area 31 Career Programs.

Le Gallery, the student run restaurant at the Career Center, opened last week with crowds at every lunch shift. The menu items included such hits as BBQ pork chops, stir fry veggies, and Philly cheese steak sandwiches. Students manning the front line donned black coats and chef hats and a generous supply of customer service.

The Building Trades classes are completing two decks on their previous houses located off 10th Street on Pershing. The project served as a warm up for their big project for the year in which they build a house from the ground up.

The Collision and Repair Technology class has already been on a field trip this year as they went to O'Reilly Raceway Park to see the recent 56th annual Mac Tools U. S. Nationals September 3. Students got up close and personal with cars and drivers, and some even got pictures taken in real race cars.

Finally, our Early Childhood Education (ECE) students are already working with students at both the Ben Davis High School Preschool and Chapelwood Elementary School. ECE students present lessons at the preschool, and when they travel across to Chapelwood, they work with specific teachers in a wide range of activities.

Whew! And that is just for starters! Stay tuned for more updates on the many things going on at Area 31 Career Programs at Ben Davis High School.

Dream: Reach your potential!
